While attending PhotoNOLA in 2019, I spent some time walking the streets with my camera. I found this house which was under interior renovation on the first day I was in New Orleans. I returned to it each day to photograph the wind playing with the protective tarping.
Each visit was different due to the quality of light and the amount of wind current; I felt I had made a living friend by the time I left. I like to think that my friend is still there moving, breathing, and evolving, like all of us this past year of COVID.
My favorite part of this specific image? -the rock patiently waiting to be called upon to hold the gate open; an enduring struggle between holding fast -or- moving about.
