I found this abandoned and waiting behind a rural Southern Baptist Church; the one thing you will see everywhere in the South is churches. And they all focus on “youth”. I do not know if youth is a singular noun in the northern states, but it is in the south. It has always sounded odd to me when used in this way; to me, it should be an adjective only: a youth choir, a youth program, etc. But in the south, it is a noun.
All the churches in the south want to attract “youth”. I found this Baptist church somewhere along my rambles in South Georgia. It made me feel sad seeing the long abandoned, unused net waiting in the side yard; almost like it was waiting for Scout, Jim, and Dill to come back for one last summer.
